DOT/MC Numbers

A DOT number is issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and identifies a moving company for interstate commerce. An MC number is issued to companies authorized to transport goods across state lines. Example: A moving company displays its DOT and MC numbers on its website and trucks, since interstate movers are legally required to have both.
