GOOGLE SEARCH RESULTS CHANGING
Google has seen the writing on the wall and has been forced to change its search results layout. With the advent of ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude, they realize the “10 blue lines” of the last 20 years will no longer be competitive with large language models (LLMs). Here’s what it means to you:
- SEO IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER: Google says that they are searching about 50 websites simultaneously when you type in a query.
- “QUERY FAN-OUT” ALGORITHM: That is how they describe it, and rather than showing 10 results, it actually provides the answer in paragraphs.
- “AI MODE” TRADEMARK: That is what the new search result is called, and it looks more like an answer you would see on ChatGPT.
- WEBSITES ARE STILL VITALLY IMPORTANT: In addition to providing the search results, Google lists some of the websites the results were obtained from in a column next to the results.
- WHAT MADE THOSE WEBSITES THE ONES GOOGLE CHOSE: This is where your new strategy will come into play. We have our game plan in place with all of our clients to ensure we are prepared. You should, too.
- AUTHORITY. AUTHORITY. AUTHORITY: It is now more important than ever. Talk to your consultant or webmaster about it, or call us.
- TRAFFIC IS THE LIFE BLOOD OF YOUR WEB MARKETING: Be sure to keep it robust. If it’s tanking, take corrective action with advertising or promotion. If your site is not seen as relevant and authoritative, it is not going to show up in Google search results.
At their recent I/O Conference on May 20th in Mountain View, Google Head Sundar Pichai stated this is where Search is going. It’s time to get prepared.
