HomeSafe Alliance Update
Here’s a quick overview of what’s happening at Home Safe Alliance (HSA), according to our sources in the moving and storage industry:
- REGISTRATION: To be part of the military moving program you must register and get qualified. To be prepared for this Spring and Summer, do it now.
- WHY SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE:
- Steady Stream of Opportunities
- Credibility and Prestige: It signals that you have met high standards.
- Support and Resources: HSA offers training and support as well as oversight assistance.
- WHY YOU MAY NOT WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN HSA:
- Strict Regulations and Compliance Requirements: HSA comes with a set of strict rules including stringent background checks, liability insurance, and other specific requirements.
- Lower Profit Margins Due to Government Pricing: To remain competitive in the program, you will be required to accept lower rates. The current discount is approximately 67%. HSA has said the discount will be lower in the coming months.
- Operational Complexity and Time-Consuming Logistics: Military moves can be complex with tight timelines. While there is paperless technology, lots of oversight is required, and delays or errors can result in penalties.
- PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- Payment: A representative of HomeSafe Alliance stated that they were paying in under 30 days once all of your paperwork with the submission was complete.
- Strict Timelines: Once you are enrolled, you will receive notification and have 3 hours to decide to take the offered moves. You may receive a few up to hundreds of opportunities at one time that may have timelines from immediate to six months out.
- Claims: A representative of HomeSafe Alliance stated that they had only charged back service providers $955 in claims that totaled over $11,000 in a recent period, illustrating that they are being fair to service providers in this process.
I have only touched the tip of the iceberg, but I hope this helps.
