IS GOOGLE SEARCH YESTERDAY’S BREAKFAST?
This seems to be the question of the day…maybe the year…maybe the decade. I’m sure it’s on your mind too. Let’s explore the facts and what’s going on:
- “AI” IS THE LATEST FASHION: Or so it seems, by all of the attention it is getting, as “everyone” seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, and for good reason.
- AI IS HERE TO STAY AND THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING: One of our favorite consultants, Dr. Marie Haynes, said a year or so ago that “This changes civilization,” and I thought, “Wow, Marie, you’ve kind of gone overboard,” but I’m not sure she has.
- “IN 10 TO 20 YEARS, WORK WILL BE OPTIONAL, AND MONEY WILL BE IRRELEVANT”: That’s a quote by Elon Musk this past week at the UK AI Safety Summit. He sees it as the most disruptive force in history.
- BUT WHAT ABOUT BEING FOUND BY PROSPECTS? After all, that’s what we do here: get you more sales leads. So far, not much has changed.
- GOOGLE STILL COMMANDS 90.6% OF ALL SEARCH TRAFFIC WORLDWIDE AS OF OCTOBER 2025: So, for all the headlines you see, and all of the articles you read about people abandoning Google Search and moving to ChatGPT, it’s not true.
- DOES GOOGLE HAVE A STRANGLEHOLD ON SEARCH? No. People are certainly using ChatGPT (75% AI LLM share) and other LLMs to find answers to their questions, but most still start with Google.
- WHERE IS SEARCH GOING? Nobody knows. But, for the time being, staying the course with your SEO marketing and Google advertising seems to be the best route to more sales leads for your company.
It’s just like the “24-hour news cycle” that has propelled Fox, CNN, MSNBC and others to provoke you with stories to get you to tune in, and stay tuned, but for the most part, they’re just stories. The facts are otherwise. Right now, Google still reigns in Search. Is AI having a tremendous impact in other areas? Absolutely! We’ll talk about that next.
