SEARCH RANKINGS EVOLVE
As we stated in our last newsletter, Google is making changes in how its users get their search results. Going away are the 10 blue website links, and in their place is what Google has trademarked as “AI Mode”. What does this mean for your website leads? Our recommendations:
- TRAFFIC IS STILL YOUR BIGGEST CONCERN: You can’t get leads without traffic to your site, and the majority of your organic traffic will come from Search.
- TRADITIONAL SEARCH: For the past 20 years, users have submitted queries, and Google’s computers have found the results from its list of web pages that are most relevant.
- NEW SEARCH: The new AI Mode retrieves the answers in a different way. It shows an “AI Overview” that is Google’s search result in a sentence format, as Google has already done the search and provided an answer for you.
- YOU NO LONGER CHOOSE THE WEBSITE TO SEARCH: With AI Mode, Google does it for you and quickly provides your answer. AI Mode enables you to go deeper into that answer if you choose.
- WHAT’S DIFFERENT? Now, Google is using a technique it calls “query fan-out” to determine which websites are displayed. Google now provides results from multiple websites and presents a single answer.
- YOUR SITE NEEDS TO BE FOUND: As in the past, your site must appear legitimate, authoritative and provide the highest intent information that the user was searching for.
- DO A DEEP DIVE: Go page by page and analyze your site. Ensure it’s up to date and trending upward in your KPIs. Talk to your webmaster. Talk to your SEO consultants. Make certain it’s ready to be part of a ranking factor in Google’s new “query fan-out” technique.
