POLITICS ASIDE…COVID FATALITY RATE ONLY 1.8% IN U.S. FOR PATIENTS UNDER 65 WITH NO PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS
Lives matter, so providing biased information would be completely irresponsible. We would never do that. There is much debate about reopening the economy and, unfortunately, it has taken on a political tone. We just want what’s best for all of us.
To that end, we wanted you to see this statistic as you work with your employees and crew during your various state lockdowns. We know some crew is anxious, so here are some facts to calm them with:
- COVID FATALITY RATE IN USA FOR PEOPLE UNDER 65 WITH NO PRE-EXISTING CONDITION: 1.8%. (Stanford Medical study.)
- PROPER COVID PROTOCOL STILL VITAL: Nobody is suggesting no masks and no distancing in large groups, and not keeping surfaces sterile.
- NEGATIVE NEWS SELLS: As a former president of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters I know this well. You’ve all heard the expression, “If it bleeds, it leads.” Well, unfortunately, that is true. If there’s bad news, people tune in more. Ratings increase. Revenue increases. All the media is guilty of this…right or left.
- CALM YOUR EMPLOYEES WITH FACTS: Most people under the age of 65 without pre-existing conditions have minimal risk of dying from COVID-19, according to the Stanford study above. Of the people I know who have gotten it, the range of severity is all over the place…from 2 days to 2 weeks. However, the same can be said about the seasonal flu.
How you decide to run your moving company is, of course, your call. But, knowing the actual fatality rate here may help you with your decision. Facts are facts. They are not subject to interpretation. For more information on this study: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-bearer-of-good-coronavirus-news-11587746176
