Dead Click

A website element that appears interactive but produces no response, often because it’s styled to look clickable when it isn’t, or because a script failed to load properly. Analytics tools flag dead clicks as a sign of user confusion or a technical bug worth investigating. Example: A moving company notices in its analytics that visitors keep clicking a bolded phrase on its storage page that isn’t actually a link. The team either turns it into a working link or removes the link-like styling to stop misleading visitors.
