Interstate vs. Intrastate Move

An interstate move crosses state lines and falls under federal FMCSA regulation. An intrastate move stays within one state and is regulated by that state’s own moving authority. Example: A moving company explains on its website that intrastate moves within Michigan follow different regulations than moves crossing into Ohio or Indiana.
